Sittingbourne & Sheppey - more candidates

It will be quite a party in Sittingbourne & Sheppey at the next election as now we will have six candidates battling for the votes.

Today UKIP announced Ian Davison as their candidate. I suspect Mr Davison and I would agree about a referendum on the UK's membership of the EU but suspect we would vote differently. Still, a welcome to Ian.

And the BNP have recently announced an intention to put up a candidate. No surprise, really, as they got 15% of the vote in Sheppey at the county council elections this year.

The Conservative party and the Loonies selected their candidates ages ago and Labour just recently. I don't know about the Greens, English Democrats or anyone else.

So that leaves ... us! I am afraid I can't comment at present but only to say the wheels are in motion. And we are very much looking forward to the campaign.

  1. Thanks for your welcome of Ian, and a warning that now a branch is set up we are hoping to make a biger imppact on this constituency than UKIP has made before. Definetely from the response we have had from our High Street promotions, there is a lot of anger here particularly in Sheppey, and they are looking for a,credible, common sense, alternative. Im sure we differ on what we think that option is, but I dont think it can be for a party that is part of the old, deceitful political class per se. Look forward to the Campaign,

Stephen Trafford (Sittingbourne and Sheppey UKIP branch secretry)

  3. Thanks, Stephen. I think it's good we have a lot of candidates to have a proper debate and give the voters a choice of varying opinions.

As you may have read, I believe the whole political process needs to be knocked down and rebuilt - and that Lib Dem policies are the best for making a start (but only a start) to this. Of course the change that is desperately needed will not come from either of the two old stale parties.

I am also looking forward to the campaign - might meet you wandering around the doorsteps!

  4. Thanks for your reply Keith, we seem to share what we think some of the problems in the political process are, although we diifer on the solution, as I think UKIP policy is the place to start of course. We may meet wandering the doorsteps, if not you will see me singing on sundays because if you havent realised I am in the choir at Milton church (the young tall one). I will miss the chance to vote at the next election, probably by about a month but still feel passionately about helping Britain, and stopping the deceit and hypocrisy of the old parties, that I think is now agreed, are intolerable.
